Indirectly, by removing the reason to turn up — which is where most booth exposure originates.
What the evidence actually shows
Listening-level research consistently shows people raise headphone level in proportion to background noise, so reducing what leaks in reduces the level chosen. [1]
There is real evidence here and it points one way, but it rests on fewer or smaller trials than the confident version of this claim implies. Treat it as a reasonable bet rather than a fact.
The catch
Isolation only helps if it changes the level you set. Better headphones used at the same volume in the same booth change nothing.
